Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) will launch it's SELENE satellite in the summer of 2007 towards the Moon, where it'll explore the origin of our natural satellite, and how has it changed since then.
To promote the mission itself, they've found a clever way to raise some interest inside population. They've started a "Wish Upon The Moon" campaign to collect names and messages from anyone interested. When collected they will send that data to the Moon. So, if you think you have something smart to write or the idea of sending a "letter" to the Moon seems cool, go to the campaign page. The message will definitively outlive you, and it'll be the farthest message you've ever sent, since the Moon is around 240 000 miles away from us. The deadline for submitting a message is the end of January 2007.
